Most organisations have now experimented with A.I. Far fewer have captured meaningful value. The difference rarely comes down to the technology itself; it comes down to how leaders redesign work around it.
1. Start with workflows, not tools
Map the end-to-end processes where time, cost or quality matter most, then ask where A.I. can remove steps entirely rather than speed up individual tasks.
2. Fix the data foundations
A.I. is only as good as the data it can access. Assign clear ownership for critical data sets and invest in making them accurate, connected and secure.
3. Build governance early
Define how models are approved, monitored and audited before scaling. Good governance accelerates adoption by building trust.
4. Invest in people
Train teams to work alongside A.I. and redesign roles so that people focus on judgement, relationships and creativity.
5. Measure what matters
Track business outcomes such as cycle time, cost to serve and customer satisfaction, not just usage, and reallocate investment to what works.
